Bookish Mamas: A book group for mums who like reading

If you’ve been following my recent posts, you’ll know that one of my goals for 2018 is to set up a book group online. Well, with two other lovely bloggers, Jess from Catch a Single Thought and Lucy from Mrs H’s Favourite Things we’ve done just that. We are proud to introduce Bookish Mamas: A book group for mums who like reading.

Our aims are really simple and straightforward: to read and discuss one book a month. We’ve set up a Facebook group, so if you’d like to join us, please pop on over to Facebook and get chatting.

How does Bookish Mamas work?

We’ll announce the book choice towards the end of the month. You will then have 3-4 weeks to read the book before we start discussing it in out Facebook group. In the last week of the month, we will start discussing the book in the Facebook group, and each blogger will publish their review at the end of the month.

If you’re a blogger too, do feel free to join in!

Our Book for January

Our January choice is really exciting: winner of the Bailey’s Prize for Women’s Fiction, The Power by Naomi Alderman.

Described as a cross between The Handmaid’s Tale and The Hunger Games, I think this is a novel which is going to provoke brilliant discussion. It’s the kind of novel which makes you think – and I’m definitely ready for that after a few too many chick-lit novels!

Part science fiction and part feminist dystopia… I think it’s going to be a brilliant start to the book group and I can’t wait to get discussing it.
